Your having what? For Breakfast?

Ayep, I am a Whimsical Ecelectic MawMaw. I wanted something different  for breakfast, Flavorful. (I have never been the usual foods for breakfast gal) Of course we need good for my health get me through the day food. So I decided to have a mix up.

I was a Chef’s Assistant at a Country Club in the mid 70’s. The best Advice Chef Richard told me was to smell my spices before adding. If they smell like what you are wanting to make, add a little and taste. Always a little, because you can always add to, but you cannot take from.

Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Garam Masala seasoning. I love this Seasoning, the depth of warmth and exotic flavor matches perfect with Roasting a Sweet Potato. This Is One Large Mississippi Sweet Potato cut like fries. I sprinkled about a Teaspoon of Garam Masala. Add some Salt and Olive Oil, Toss it to coat and bake for 20 minutes in a 400° Oven and you have Tender, Sweet and Savory in every bite.

Before the Roasting. 400° for 20 minutes.

Here’s the good for you part that Mawmaw has to let you know about. Sweet Potatoes: Sweet potatoes are a rich source of fibre as well as containing an array of vitamins and minerals including iron, calcium, selenium, and they’re a good source of most of our B vitamins and vitamin C. ~~BBC Good Food. Also according to Medical News Today Health Benefits are: Improving insulin sensitivity in diabetes, Maintaining healthful blood pressure levels, Reducing the risk of cancer, Improving digestion and regularity, Protecting eye health, Boosting immunity and Reducing inflammation. So this one Sweet Tater is I believe Labeled a Super Food. Makes for a Super Day! 😉

Now let’s look at this Garam Masala Spice Blend. I do get mine from Spice and Tea Exchange Garam masala is full of antioxidants which help in preventing skin problems and also help fight inflammation. According to Dr. Rupali Dutta, garam masala has carminative properties and apart from boosting digestion, it also helps in fighting bloating, flatulence and even nausea. ~~NDTV Food

I can say that with all foods Unprocessed is best. Everything in Moderation.

Garam Masala Roasted Sweet Potato and Basil Pesto, Tomato, Muenster Sammie

The Sammie? Ayep it’s another one of my Flavor Foods … It consists of a Frozen Slice of Whole Foods Pioneer Bread (or what you have on hand that you enjoy). Spread w/Basil Pesto. Then slice in half. Add a Slice of Muenster Cheese cut in half and placed on both sides. Slice of Tomato placed on top of one side ( Or like me one for each side). I Sprinkled McCormick’s Himalayan Salt, Pepper, Garlic Mix Blend on. (This Blend has become a favorite and used Daily) Put onto a sheet pan in Toaster Oven or oven til Cheese is melted and Bread Toasted. Put them together as a sammie, or eat Open faced. Whichever makes you smile.😁

And I will not Torment you on the goodness of the Sammie.

112° Heat Index, Health, and Breakfast

Breakfast is Served

It’s Stinkin Winkin Hot! 112° And everything is Melty Hot, Sahara Dust Cloud overhead and it’s just down right Blah! Our Home was built in 1961, so I have every Ceiling Fan, Floor Fan going to move the air and try to keep it cool.

An Ice Cold Fruit Breakfast Smoothie is Perfect! I am choosing daily to eat as healthy as I can. Heart Health in every aspect. What keeps the body Healthy, Immune System. Since my emergency Heart Surgery in 2015, I have researched, (We are in a time that Information is at our fingertips, so I use it, daily). Everything in Moderation, Fresh Is Best, Unprocessed Is The Tops!

Ok, ok…MawMaw will move the subject along…😊

The Main Items are: Bananas (are Loaded w/Potassium Good For Heart Health and Blood Pressure~~WebMD), Strawberries (Protect your Heart by increasing the good cholesterol (HDL),help lower Blood Pressure, Fight Cancer, high levels of antioxidants named polyphenols~~NDTVFood), Blueberries (Antioxidant Superfood, Phytoflavinoids, High in Potassium and Vitamin C, Lower Risk of Heart Disease and Cancer, Anti-inflammatory~~WebMD). I go to The Local Produce Stand/Market and try to catch these Items on sale. I simply bring them home, clean, and freeze them in a gallon ziploc bag in a single layer.

Next is Knudson or Lakewood Coconut/Pineapple Juice. (In Todays times it is hard to find just Coconut Milk Blend, or combination of the 2, sometimes all I can find is the pineapple). Pineapple Juice is rich in antioxidants, helps protect the body from damage and disease, it contains Bromelain,a group of enzymes that may reduce inflammation, improve digestion, and boost Immunity~~Healthline. Coconut Milk Lowers cholesterol, Aids in Weight loss, packed with vitamins C, E, B1, B3, B5, and B6 as well as iron, selenium, sodium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus~~Medical News Today and NDTV food

Then there is 5.3 oz. Greek Vanilla Yogurt. Is an excellent source of calcium, which can help improve bone health. It also contains probiotics, which support a healthy bacterial balance in the gut~~Medical News Today

Now comes the add ins, Ground Flaxseed rich in the omega-3 fatty acid ALA, lignans and fiber, all of which have been shown to have many potential health benefits. They can be used to improve digestive health, lower blood pressure and bad cholesterol, reduce the risk of cancer and may benefit people with diabetes~~Healthline

Ground Oats, ya know the Whole Oats, not the instant Oats. Oats are among the healthiest grains on earth. These include weight loss, lower blood sugar levels and a reduced risk of heart disease~~Healthline. I use Bob’s Red Mill Whole Oats and Blenderize them into a flour. 😁

You can add to pancake mix, and no one knows the goodness is there.( I Love https://www.bobsredmill.com/ I use many of their Products).

Are We There Yet? Yes we are! In a Blender, Ninja, whateva ya got to swirl this up… add half a Frozen banana, 2-3 Frozen Strawberries, ¼-⅓ Frozen Blueberries, then add One 5.3 oz Greek Vanilla or Plain (Or any flavor that makes you smile) Shake your Juice Bottle and fill up empty yogurt cup and add to blender. 1 Tablespoon (TBsp)each Chia, Ground Flaxseed, Ground Oats, add ¼ cup Whey Protein, swirl away until blended, throw a straw in it and slurp away! All that goodness and my grandbabies thinks it’s a smoothie treat, Ayep it’s that good!😉
